Golden Saddle Cyclery Grand Prix from Golden Saddle Cyclery on Vimeo.
Golden Saddle Cyclery hosted an amazing day of races to raise funds for the Encino Velodrome. The races consisted of a 3 category Omnium as well as a separate sprint race. Aside from racing, the highlight would have to be the camaraderie and the amazing food prepared by Todd of Burrito Project fame. Golden Saddle would like to thank the racers, spectators and all of our sponsors who donated prizes to help keep this amazing facility open. A special Thank You goes out to Keiron, of Ride The Black Line, for throwing this great event and allowing us to participate. Make sure to make it out to the rest of the summer series going on through out the months of July and August.

While you were sleeping, 40 racers from almost every part of the L.A. area woke up to compete in one of this year’s longest street races: The epic Santa Barbara to Santa Monica, throw by none other than HERN from PREDATOR and Brooklyn Machine Works.

The day started early for the riders as they took trains or bummed a ride to get to the starting line, 83 miles up the Pacific Coast Highway. Teams from all over sent representatives, the race was open to both fixed gear and road.

A nice Saturday ride down the PCH, the riders took it easy right? Wrong. This was another fast-paced smash that showed that L.A. racers mean business. The front pack stayed together with about 20 people until the last 10 miles when the final attack started. It was an intense finish, Jon Budinoff opened up a large gap and finished 1st with the other riders crossing the line minutes after.

The Official Results Are:
1st Fixed – Bud Abielle (LDG / Engine 11)
1st Fixed Brakeless – Alvin Escajeda (Bumstead’s Cycles / Mobbin’ Monday)
1st Road – Jon Budinoff (Wolfpack A)
2nd Fixed – Henry (TRAFIK / El Maestros)
